Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about the everyday ties that shape rural community life: shared knowledge, neighbourly exchange, belonging, common resources and seasonal customs. A good contribution leaves room for differences between places rather than presenting one local way as universal.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the central question, the point you want readers to take away and why the subject suits Genuine Community News. A focused idea grounded in clear examples is more useful than a broad promise to cover community life. Suggest the likely reader and the form the piece might take.

The right scope

We favour evergreen, reader-minded work that explains, compares or offers a safe way to think about an ordinary choice. Keep claims proportionate, distinguish opinion from fact and avoid instructions that depend on professional judgement, official approval or rules that vary from place to place.

Send a proposal

Send pitches and questions through the Contact page, choosing the editorial option and giving your proposed title, focus and any relevant context. Please propose the idea rather than sending a finished article unless it has been requested.
